  • U.S. firm signs tracker supply deal for 258 MW solar project
  • Project includes battery storage and feeds into national grid
  • Move strengthens GameChange’s growing footprint in Egypt

U.S.-based GameChange Solar said on March 16 it has signed a contract with Hassan Allam Constructions to supply solar tracking systems for a new project in Benban, in Egypt’s Aswan governorate. The project is being developed by Infinity Power in partnership with Hassan Allam Utilities.

According to the company, the trackers will be used for a 258 MWp photovoltaic project, equivalent to about 200 to 235 MW of actual power delivered to the grid in alternating current. The installation will also include 120 MWh of battery storage capacity.

The equipment is based on the company’s Genius Tracker™ technology, designed to operate in high heat and dusty conditions typical of the Middle East and North Africa. Anirudha Sharma, vice president for business development (India and MENA), said the selection reflects GameChange Solar’s track record in Egypt, its ability to meet fast timelines, and its regional presence. He added that the company has steadily expanded its on-the-ground capabilities to support large-scale, fast-moving projects.

A further step in Egypt expansion

The deal comes as GameChange Solar continues to scale up in Egypt, bringing its total deployed capacity in the country to nearly 3 GWp. In October 2023, the company partnered with engineering firm CEEC-ZTPC to supply trackers for the 560 MW Kom Ombo project. It also signed a similar agreement in July 2025 for the Abydos Phase II solar plant, which combines 1 GW of capacity with 600 MWh of storage.

The Benban project is part of a broader program totaling 1,200 MW of solar capacity and 720 MWh of storage. Power generated will be fed into Egypt’s national grid under power purchase agreements signed in November 2025 with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC).

The project also aligns with Egypt’s energy strategy, which targets renewables to account for 42% of the electricity mix by 2030 and 65% by 2040.
