Turkish Airlines Expands West Africa Reach Through Air Peace Agreement

Turkish Airlines Expands West Africa Reach Through Air Peace Agreement
Tuesday, 21 April 2026 08:33
  • Turkish Airlines and Air Peace launched a bilateral interline agreement to streamline travel between Nigeria, West and Central Africa, Türkiye, and global markets.

  • The deal enables single-ticket journeys, coordinated connections, and simplified baggage transfers across selected routes.

  • Air Peace gains access to nearly 300 international destinations via Istanbul, while Turkish Airlines extends reach into Nigeria’s domestic and regional network.

Turkish Airlines and Air Peace have announced the implementation of a bilateral interline agreement aimed at strengthening connectivity between Nigeria, West and Central Africa, Türkiye, and the rest of the world. The agreement allows passengers of both carriers to access an integrated travel experience through a single ticket, coordinated schedules that ease connections, and streamlined baggage transfers on selected routes.

This development reduces constraints linked to multiple bookings and check-in procedures while improving the fluidity of intercontinental travel. Turkish Airlines passengers traveling to Lagos can continue their journeys to several domestic and regional destinations through Air Peace’s network.

Conversely, Air Peace customers departing from Nigeria and other West African countries can access Turkish Airlines’ extensive international network of nearly 300 destinations via its Istanbul hub, a strategic crossroads linking Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Beyond enhancing transport offerings, both airlines expect positive spillovers for tourism, trade, and business activity. Air Peace positions this partnership within its broader international expansion strategy, particularly beyond the African continent.

The Nigerian carrier already relies on an interline agreement with Emirates, updated in January, which enables it to extend its reach to the United Arab Emirates and selected Middle East destinations, including Jeddah.
