Belife Insurance joins Gozem’s Series B round to grow its digital footprint
Partnership aims to deliver simple, accessible insurance through Gozem’s Super App
Move strengthens Gozem’s ecosystem, which now spans transport, payments, delivery, and vehicle financing
The Lomé-based startup Gozem has announced a new milestone in its growth with Belife Insurance (formerly Prudential) joining its shareholding structure as part of its Series B round, a second-stage financing used to accelerate a company’s expansion.
Belife Insurance, active in Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, and Cameroon, is seeking to deepen its presence in digital services and reach a broader audience in francophone Africa. Formed after the acquisition of Prudential’s operations, the insurer aims to offer simple, accessible insurance products. Its investment is intended to speed up the rollout of solutions tailored to drivers, traders, and informal-sector workers. Gozem’s Super App—used in Togo, Benin, Gabon, and Cameroon—is seen as a natural channel for this strategy.
Since 2018, Gozem has expanded from transport services to an integrated platform covering payments, delivery, ticketing, and vehicle financing. The arrival of an investor from the insurance sector is expected to help the company add another layer to this ecosystem. Both companies see the partnership as an opportunity to widen access to services still underrepresented in the region.
According to Gozem’s leadership, the stake is a “strategic partnership” rather than a simple financial contribution. It is meant to strengthen the platform’s ability to deliver essential services adapted to local realities as it scales up.
