  • Deal  builds on existing cooperation in media and transport

Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau have signed an agreement to strengthen cultural cooperation, according to a joint statement released on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

The agreement calls for cultural exchanges, joint programs focused on cultural education, enhanced training initiatives, and increased development of cultural events, particularly festivals.

"Our shared goal is to give new momentum to our cultural cooperation for the benefit of our artists, cultural professionals, and especially our people, since we have so much in common," said Ivorian Minister of Culture and Francophonie Françoise Remarck.

The two nations already have strong ties in culture, media, and transportation. In March 2025, a delegation visited Côte d’Ivoire to study its audiovisual sector, and another delegation studied road safety in November 2023, with both visits aimed at sharing Ivorian expertise.

Guinea-Bissau was the guest of honor at the 16th edition of the Anoumabo Urban Music Festival (FEMUA) in 2024.
