(Ecofin Agency) - Nigeria is getting $225 million under a USAID program to improve access to basic care for populations. The information was reported by Stephen Haykin (photo) who led the US Agency for International Development -USAID- mission in the country.
This disbursement, Mr. Haykin says, is part of the 5-year Integrated Health Program (IHP) that “will bring quality basic healthcare closer to the people and support Nigeria to achieve universal health coverage.”
IHP targets five states in Nigeria namely Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto, with two more states to be added soon, the Director noted. “The activity will help these states address direct and underlying causes of maternal and child mortality and assist them to increase their revenues for health to boost the capacity of primary health care delivery,” Haykin said.
