(Ecofin Agency) - The Federal Government of Nigeria plans to construct hundreds of petrol stations throughout the country. To this effect, it is collaborating with states and local governments as well as private investors to ensure that the crisis in the supply of petroleum products across the country does not reoccur in the future.

According to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu (photo), the government also plans to enter into joint venture with current petrol stations in an effort to boost the number of retail outlets run by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

We are working with state governors in terms of land, and with local governments as well. Some of that is going to come through joint ventures with some existing filling stations who are willing to do the JVs with us”, Kachikwu told Energy Mix report.
