The joint venture set up by British private equity firm Actis and Canadian-based hotel management company Westmont Hospitality Group has acquired the Sheraton Casablanca hotel in Morocco for an undisclosed amount. This is the venture’s second acquisition in the North African country.
“The acquisition of the Sheraton Casablanca marks the next step of our joint venture platform. Current hotel supply in Casablanca is not sufficient to meet the greater demand for higher-end products. As an experienced and trusted partner, we have enormous confidence in Westmont’s ability to handle the operational aspects of this exciting investment,” said Funke Okubadejo, Director of Real Estate at Actis. The two partners plan to harness the potential of Casablanca where they see “a growing hospitality market with a strong business demand.”
Sheraton Casablanca was the asset of American multinational Marriott International since 2016.
