After the Abidjan and Lomé courts, it is now the turn of the London court to rule in favour of Ecobank’s ex-CEO, Thierry Tanoh. Judge Robin Knowles lifted this Friday morning the injunction temporarily preventing the enforcement of court orders from Abidjan and Lomé.
We recall that the Pan African bank group, dissatisfied with the verdicts of the African courts, of which the group expressed concerns regarding their independence and objectivity, had decided to take the case to the London courts, sure that Her Majesty’s courts would be favourable to its cause. This was not the case. The defamation and wrongful termination, sanctioned by the African judges are thus confirmed.
There is therefore nothing more opposing the payment to Mr Tanoh by Ecobank of the US$12.6 million granted by the Ivorian judge and the US$11.5 million imposed by the Togolese court.
