The Mauritanian group AON (diversified group, holding the Banque National de Mauritanie) and Algerian Copresud (diversified group with assets in oil sector services) entered into partnership to explore potentialities of Algerian and African markets.
The firms announced joint-ventures in agriculture (for cereals farming) and maritime drainage. “This partnership targets projects worth millions of dollars, in Algeria and elsewhere,” said the head of an Algerian consulting firm present.
Imad Benmalem, CEO of Copresud said during the African investment forum held from December 3 to 5, that this type of partnership between major actors of the region is necessary for Africa. “Over the past few years, Copresud has been focusing on seeking expertise and potential worldwide, by developing partnerships with representatives of various nations,” he said.
CEO of AON, Mr. Noueigued who took part to a workshop on free-trade in Africa, highlighted the strong bonds between Algeria and Mauritania and added that he wished for “the alliance between the two nations to spur the construction of inter-African business”.
Other sectors should be studied by the partners, knowingly fishing, where Mauritania’s expertise is renowned.
The Mauritanian delegation was one of the most present of most active at the Algiers forum.
