The leader in international money transfer services Western Union and the mobile operator MTN announced, in a press release published on 6th July, the launch of a new mobile money transfer service in Rwanda and Côte d’Ivoire.
The new service will allow MTN clients, in the aforementioned countries, to receive money transfers in their mobile wallets. The senders can choose to operate from a Western Union partner agency or from a Western Union digital portal.
Money transferred on the mobile account of MTN Ivorian and Rwandan clients can be used to pay bills, transfer money from one account to another or purchase mobile airtime. Western Union has more than 400 agencies in Rwanda and around 1350 agencies in Côte d’Ivoire.
