The South African subsidiary of audit firm KPMG is actually wooing its public after scandal-marred months, an op-ed published by many South African media on December 10, 2018, reveals.
The publication signed by Wiseman Nkuhlu, managing director of the institution, indicates that nowadays, KPMG is really different from what it was eighteen months ago. "I would like to make an appeal to South African businesses, government and the public", he wrote asking that the company’s efforts, its patience and the possibility it has to play a positive role in South Africa be recognized.
These actions just add to the dozens of apologies already formulated by the audit firm following the disclosure of evidence of its involvement in the most important corruption cases ever in South Africa. Among them being the company’s corruption link between the local wealthy Gupta family and former president Jacob Zuma dismissed from office.
