Morocco to become a Cummins engine-rebuilding hub in North and West Africa
Wednesday, 13 February 2019 19:23

OCP Group and NYSE-listed Cummins Inc’s MENA subsidiary signed a strategic partnership for the construction of a Master Rebuild Center (MRC) for Cummins High Horsepower engines in Khouribga, Morocco. This was announced in a release published on February 12, 2019, by OCP Group.

According to this release, the new MRC, which will be completed by 2021, will be the second in Africa and the first in the North and West African regions.

Morocco will thus become the major hub for the maintenance of Cummins high horsepower engines in North and West Africa. The 14,000-m2 plant will receive old Cummins engines from 20 countries, check for defective parts, rebuild and ship them back to clients.

Recently, Morocco has become a major hub in the African automotive industry. On Dec 11, 2017, it signed 26 industrial investment agreements with major automakers like Renault and group PSA. This new master rebuild center will further boost its economy.
