In Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera took a major lead on his rival in Bangui during the second round of the presidential elections, the National Election Authority (ANE) revealed.
Asides in the second district where both candidates had close scores, Faustin Archange Touadéra had a comfortable lead in most of Bangui’s vote offices, partial results released by ANE show.
According to AFP compilations of ANE results for Bangui, Touadera garnered 120,000 votes while his adversary Dologuele had some 55,000 votes.
During the first round of the polls, Anicet Georges Dologuélé came first with 23.78% whereas independent candidate Touadera had 19.42%.
Anicet Georges Dologuele on Wednesday February 17 accused the opposing camp of “organizing fraud” in Bangui and provinces. He also mentioned that “fake polling stations were set up” and “cases of intimidation with chiefs of armed militias patrolling to influence voting”.
ANE said full results will be released within a week.
