AXA Assurance Maroc SA acquired stakes in Dabadoc, a Moroccan startup that helps find nearby doctors and arranges meetings online.
Dabadoc, launched in 2014 thanks to a MAD5 million investment, will use the new funds to develop its presence in North Africa, namely Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia where it is already well established.
Dabadoc, which helps health professionals communicate with their patients online and better manage their medical consultations, also expects to develop its products and services. “To have AXA as stakeholder adds an important aspect to our mission to democratize access to health care services. We are happy for the new growth prospects presented by this partnership and for the expertise provided by AXA on our existing and future markets”, Zineb Drissi Kaitouni, the platform’s founder said.
Earlier this year, the startup launched a teleconsulting service thanks to which patients are able to communicate with doctors via video conference.
In 2016, the startup, which is said to have facilitated 2 million appointments since its creation, started offering its services in Nigeria and South Africa. It also launched an Arabic version of its website.
