The combined presidential and parliamentary elections in Burkina Faso will take place on 11 October, according to two decrees published on 15 July.
The first decree passed by Cabinet pertains to “convening the electorate to the legislative elections on Sunday 11 October 2015”.
The second invites the voters for the first round of the presidential election also on “Sunday 11 October 2015, throughout the country”.
Since the fall of President Blaise Compaoré in October 2014 following popular uprising, Burkina Faso is governed by interim authorities which must hand over power to the newly elected administration.
In total, ten candidates have been officially selected by their political parties for the presidential election.
According to the electoral commission, some 5.54 million Burkinabè will be registered on the voters lists for the October presidential and legislative elections, being 27% more than the previous elections in 2012.
