Morocco : Bahraini Growthgate Capital strenghtens position on large-scale retailing market

Thursday, 19 November 2015 12:24

Bahraini investment group Growthgate Capital which specializes in the agro-food sector, has acquired 6% of additional interests in Retail Holding, the main shareholder of Label’Vie, specialist of large-scale retailing, and concessionaire of Carrefour brand in Morocco.

The transferor in this transaction is Unimer, another operator of the Moroccan agro-food industry, who by the way cashed-in 150 million dirhams out of which 112 million dirhams pre-tax plus values. This transaction will be followed by a capital increase of 500 million dirhams subscribed by Growthgate Capital, which should better position it within Retail Holding, unlike Unimer who will be drawing back to 25% of capital.

With this fund raising operation, Retail Holding Intends to finance its expansion in Sub-Saharan Africa. It should be recalled that the group is the head company of Retail Holding Africa which detains a significant share in CDCI’s capital. CDCI is the second best firm specialized in agro-food retailing in Côte d’Ivoire.
