On Friday, November 16, 2018, Allianz SE commented on the information according to which it reached an agreement with Sunu Participations for the sale of some of its African assets. "This information has been published without our approval and Allianz group cannot confirm it", a manager at the group’s operations in Africa answered in a mail sent by Ecofin Agency.
Indeed, according to some media which relayed information published by Confidentiel Afrique, Sunu Participations, owner of Sunu Assurance, and Allianz SE signed purchase/sales agreements on November 9, 2018. However, these media provided no further details.
Allianz explained that commitments have indeed been taken with Sunu Participations. But, this agreement is subjected to the validation of various regulators for definite agreement. For the time being, there is no indication of the subsidiaries which are to be sold.
