Tunisia will present a development plan which requires $63 billion of investments, from which $23 billion of foreign investment, during the Davos World Economic Forum which began yesterday and will end on January 23.
“Tunisia plans during the Davos Forum to mobilize a third of the amount representing its financial needs for developing national economy over a period of 5 years. These needs have been estimated to around US $63 billion”, Tunisian Press agency TAP revealed quoting a source from government.
“Tunisia wishes to profit from the international sympathy it enjoys, notably after recently it has been awarded Nobel peace prize”, the same source adds.
Tunisia completed its democratic transition in 2014 after successfully organizing legislative elections. However, the Northern African nation which flirts with European borders still faces economic and security challenges.
The Tunisian delegation in Davos comprises President Habib Essid, president of Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicraft, Wided Bouchamaoui, minister of Development and Investment, Yassine Brahim, and some human rights activists.
