FSD Africa to build Ghanaian financial market regulator’s capacity

The Securities and Exchange Commission Ghana (SEC Ghana) will take part in the African financial markets regulators’ capacity building project initiated by the British institution FSD Africa.

This program which will last for two and half years will provide assistance and support to SEC Ghana. FSD Africa will evaluate the capacities of the Ghanaian regulator to identify its strength and determine sectors where it needs to improve its strategy and operations.

"We look forward to a strong, mutually beneficial partnership with FSD Africa as we commence this project. FSD Africa has been keen to support Ghana’s capital market development with its resultant impact on the real economy", said Daniel Ogbarmey Tetteh, director general of SEC.

The program is aimed at providing funds to African financial markets regulators to boost their capacities. FSD via this initiative will offer technical assistance to regulators, encourage closer cooperation between these institutions and carry out research to support the development of new policies and regulations.

Let’s note that SEC Nigeria was the first regulator to join the program in September 2018.
