Nigerian tycoon and Africa’s richest, Aliko Dangote, will be going to Abidjan at the beginning of September to meet with Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara. This visit comes in the framework of his project to build a cement plant in the country, the Dangote Group said.
The plant which will require a FCFA150 billion investment will be established in the Attinguié community, situated 30 km from Abidjan, and will over about 50 hectares. The project should generate 2,000 to 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The new plant will be identical to and function in the same way as the Ibese plant in Nigeria which produces 44 million tons of cement per annum, has ultra-modern technologies and respects environmental and ecologic standards.
The group added that cement produced in Cote d’Ivoire “will be of better quality and cheaper that the one actually sold in the Ivorian market”.
