Denouncing the abandoning of the Ouargla industrial zone in Algeria, its residents are calling unto the government to take care of the region which used to be home of many prospering companies like Enaditex, Etrapmo, Onaco and Enafroid.
According to website Algerie patriotique, the people of Ouargla are doing everything to get the government’s attention. What is left of this industrial area, situated in the centre of Ouargla, and goes over tens of hectares, is nothing but the name. Quite a decline compared to how it used to host many firms and provided hundreds of jobs for locals. The worst is that the industrial land, which is valued at billions of dinars, has been completely abandoned, not forgetting to mention how it is squandered, the site reports. .
In this context, the people of the wilaya believe they are marginalized by land administration. According to the people of Ouargla, many companies, agro-food firms mainly, were willing to establish themselves in the wilaya but encountered some issues in acquiring lands. They claim the Ouargla wilaya is the only one without milk-bagging units. Due to the growing disinterest in the region, unemployment in the region has been on the rise, the site adds.
