Egyptair plans to increase its fleet with 38 new planes which it will purchase for EGP60 billion (about $3.4 billion). This was announced last Sunday by the firm’s CEO, Safwat Musallam, local press reported.
The related contract will see the carrier acquire various types of aircrafts including 27 narrow-body aircrafts and 6 Jumbo Jets. According to Safwat Musallam, the planes which will mainly be long-haul aircrafts will enable Egypt link new destinations across various continents.
Moreover, adding that the upcoming deal would be one of the most significant ever sealed by an airlines in the Middle east, Egyptair’s CEO said the fleet's expansion would continue until 2021-2021.
It should be noted that in June 2017, Egyptair had nearly 70 different aircrafts. It also received the sixth new generation Boeing 737-800, out of nine it ordered from the US giant plane maker, Boeing, in 2016.
