Islamic Development Bank (IDB) just granted Togo three loans totaling $194 million to finance projects to extend road network, improve education and access to electricity in rural areas.
Agreements related to these investments were signed on January 20 in Jeddah during an official visit of Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé to Saoeudi Arabi.
The first loan which is worth $130.5 million is to be injected into the rehabilitation of the Adoua-Kara road which connects five of the country’s region. This road also known as the UEMOA CU9 corridor is currently highly degraded and also connects Togo to its neighboring countries.
The second loan estimated at 16.3 million dollars will be used to finance a project that aims to improve quality of education and increase the percentage of kids having access to primary education.
The last loan, $46 million, will be used to provide power to 43 villages in the Northern part of the country.
