Ethiopian Airlines just announced it was going to launch an Addis Ababa-New York-Lome flight line in June 2016, with three departures per week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday).

Flights from Addis Ababa will depart Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday in the morning and return from JFK in the evening the same day with an intermediate stop in Lome.

The state-owned company plans to operate this route with a Boeing 787 which has 24 business class seats and 246 seats in economy class.

Via its Lome-based partner, ASKY Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines will offer flights to “Lagos, Abidjan, Dakar, Libreville, Douala, N’Djamena, Kinshasa, Bamako, Conakry, Ouagadougou and Niamey”.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Ethiopian Airlines ranks first airlines in terms of profit and turnover. The Star Alliance firm currently serves 92 destinations over five continents.
