Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC) which is considered as one of France’s and Europe’s best business schools will proceed to a multi-polar deployment in Africa, by opening two new campuses in Mauritius and Morocco, L’étudiant reported on March 29.
The Moroccan branch which will be established in Rabat is dedicated to “Africa-Atlantic” while the Mauritian campus is to cover the “Africa-Indian Ocean” region, the same source reveals.
In Rabat, the campus will hold about 500 students, of which 60 or 80 first years. After two years in Morocco, these students can pursue their curriculum in any other ESSEC campuses. “ESSEC is already known in Morocco through our Alumni. Our goal is to enroll students from West Africa,” said Jean-Michel Blanquer, CEO of ESSEC.
In Mauritius, the training will be similar to that at the Moroccan campus; however, this campus will be able to receive 150 to 200 students. In the mid-term, ESSEC’s two African branches plan to be recipients of the French students’ Grande Ecole programme.
In Rabat, ESSEC’s campus will be established in 2,000 m2 building in construction by Moroccan Real-Estate group Addoha. Completion of the project is expected for November 2016.
In Mauritius, ESSEC will integrate at the beginning of the 2017 academic year, ISCIA (International Campus for Sustainable and Innovative Africa), owned by Médecine group, thus joining French institutions such as Centrale Nantes, Paris 2 or Ensa (Ecole Supérieure d’Architecture de Nantes).
ESSEC currently has two campuses in France and one in Singapore. Its Grande Ecole Programme in 2014 and 2015 ranked third worldwide in Financial Times’ ranking of Masters in Management.
