(Ecofin Agency) - Towards achieving a clean and sustainable Multi-MegaWatt electricity in the country, Angola’s Ministry of Petroleum has today granted Dominovas Energy Corp., an Independent Power Producer (IPP) licence.

The licence grants the company authority to provide clean and reliable electricity to companies within the oil and gas industry including state-owned Sonangol Group. Dominovas is to provide the base-load Multi-MegaWatt electricity through its RUBICON, Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) system.

Dominovas Energy’s RUBICON™ system is the only fuel cell-based technology solution to be granted an Independent Power Producer license in the country. This demonstrates the Angolan leadership’s commitment to new technologies, allowing for positive stewardship toward minerals and resources”, Neal Allen Chairman and CEO of Dominovas Energy said.

Angola’s oil production and drilling industry needs more than 1,200 MW and 1,220 MW respectively, of electricity daily. In the next five years, new onshore and offshore fields in the country will upgrade to 2,000 MW of electricity daily, Petroleum Africa reports.
