On Monday, Avenira announced that it has updated the mineral resources estimates of its Baobab phosphate mine. It underlines that the new assessments increase the project’s potential for longevity.
The inferred mineral resource was estimated at 173 million tons of 18% P2O5, 10.9% more than the previous estimate while the indicated mineral resource remained at 34.9 million tons of 20.7% P2O5.
"The updated resource model, showing the continuity of the inferred resource zone over 20 km, is a further confirmation of the large size of Gadde Bissik deposit of the Baobab project," commented Louis Calvarin, the managing director.
Avenira, which holds 80% stake in Baobab, is carrying out engineering studies for the expansion project which consists in developing the Gadde Bissik deposit. It wants to increase the production rate to 500,000 tons per year.
