Newmont has resumed operations at both its mines at Ahafo and Akyem in Ghana. This was revealed yesterday by the company’s spokesperson while speaking to Reuters in the evening. He, however, indicated that the civil engineering works for the expansion of Ahafo mine were not resumed.
For the record, Newmont shut down gold mining operations in Ghana after six workers died in the collapse of a tunnel roof at the construction site of the Ahafo expanded gold processing plant.
