Canadian mining company True Gold produced first gold at its Karma project in Burkina Faso, few weeks, after announcing start of heap leaching. Last month, the company said it treated 600,000 tons of gold at a grade exceeding average and planned to produce first gold March ending.
“We are delighted to pass this key milestone at the Karma mine and are now focused on the ramp-up period aimed at achieving commercial production,” said True Gold’s CEO, Christian Milau.
The firm revealed it was able to achieve this result with the support of Endeavour Mining who recently signed an agreement to acquire True Gold for $143 million, giving it 90% of Karma. The transaction should be completed latest by April 26th.
The Karma project includes six exploration permits covering a total of 856 km2 with more than 40 identified high-priority targets, with high gold grade. The mine supposedly holds 33.2 million tons of reserves at a grade of 0.89 g/t and about 949,000 ounces of gold.
