In Mali, the temporary power generation equipment supplier Aggreko, has commissioned a 7.4MW diesel-fueled power plant, at the Yanfolila mine controlled by Hummingbird Resources. The infrastructure will power the mine’s processing factory.
“Getting reliable, efficient and cost-effective power supply is critical when it comes to mining operations. Aggreko’s technologies provide a scalable and efficient power that can accommodate any change of needs and resources available,” explained Aggreko MD Africa, James Sheperd.
Dan Betts, CEO of Hummingbird Resources, for his part, declared that the firm wishes to continue looking at potential renewable energy solutions, like solar PV. He added that following steps in Yanfolila’s development process include water supply service and test of installed factory.
The Yanfolila gold mine should start production next December with an output of 132,000 ounces in its first year of activity.
