Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency has issued environmental permits for Obuasi gold mine operated by AngloGold Ashanti. These cover the redevelopment project of the mine as well as associated tailings and water infrastructure.
“With the key permitting and regulatory process complete, we will continue to progress the redevelopment of the Obuasi mine as a modern, productive operation that will benefit a range of key stakeholders for, at least, two decades,” said CEO Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan (photo).
Let’s note that the South African company is one of the world’s largest mining company. It is also present in South Africa, Mali (Morila, Sadiola), Guinea (Siguiri), DR Congo (Kibali), and Tanzania (Geita).
