  • Dutch firm De Heus to build new feed factory in Korhogo, expanding its footprint.
  • Move follows €8 bln CFA ($14.4 mln) investment in Attinguié poultry feed plant in 2023.
  • Côte d’Ivoire targets doubling chicken output to 200,000 tons by 2030, boosting feed demand.

Dutch animal feed producer De Heus plans to build a new production facility in Korhogo, northern Côte d’Ivoire. The announcement was made on September 17 during a meeting between Animal Resources Minister Sidi Tiémoko Touré and Paul Bizard, head of De Heus Côte d’Ivoire.

“This new facility is meant to be a strategic hub, not only to strengthen local supply but also to serve the wider sub-region,” the ministry said in a statement.

Details such as the exact location, production capacity, and cost have not yet been disclosed. The project, however, signals the company’s plan to strengthen its presence in Côte d’Ivoire.

Since 2023, De Heus has operated a poultry feed plant in Attinguié with a capacity of 120,000 tons per year. That facility was built through its Ivorian subsidiary at a cost of CFA8 billion ($14.4 million).

The group’s decision to expand production capacity is linked to growth prospects in Côte d’Ivoire’s livestock industry, especially poultry. The country aims to more than double its annual chicken production to 200,000 tons by 2030, up from 97,000 tons in 2024, as part of its national poultry development strategy. This target is expected to drive demand for animal feed in the coming years.
