Cameroon Coffee Export Earnings Triple in 2024-2025 as Prices Rebound

  • Cameroon coffee export revenues tripled to 3.5 billion CFA francs

  • Marketed output rose 10% in 2024-2025, NCCB data show

  • Producer prices jumped for Arabica and Robusta

The 2024-2025 coffee season signalled a clear recovery in Cameroon’s export revenues. According to the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (NCCB), the Free on Board (FOB) value of exports surged, more than tripling to 3.5 billion CFA francs (about $6.4 million), from 807 million CFA francs in the 2023-2024 season, according to the board’s campaign report.

The NCCB linked the increase to two factors: higher marketed production and a rebound in international prices. The 2024-2025 season closed with national marketed output of 11,637 tonnes, up 10% from 2023-2024.

Prices paid to producers also increased. Trade Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana said prices rose from 2,375 CFA francs to 2,854 CFA francs per kg for Arabica and from 1,500 CFA francs to 1,959 CFA francs per kg for Robusta, up 20.16% and 30.6%, respectively.

For 2025-2026, the government expects favourable conditions to continue, particularly on prices. “This campaign opens in a context of rising prices on the international market, due in particular to rapidly growing demand in the face of declining supply, hindered by climate change-related disruptions,” the minister said.
