Algerian authorities have launched Markabati DZ, a new digital platform to manage appointments for the mandatory compliance inspection of imported vehicles, the country's Ministry of Energy announced. The initiative aims to streamline procedures for importers amid high demand.
The ministry explained that the platform's goal is to "reduce waiting lines, simplify administrative procedures, and save citizens time, while guaranteeing a modern, fluid, and transparent service." Officials added that appointments can be booked via smartphone or computer, which will "alleviate pressure on the relevant services."
To use Markabati DZ, users select an available time slot for the conformity check and input the required information about the imported vehicle. Upon validation, the user receives a confirmation email that includes the appointment date, a list of necessary documents, and a unique QR code. Access to the inspection center is strictly limited to vehicles with the QR code and their owners, ensuring transparency and traceability.
The platform is part of Algeria's national strategy to digitize public services. Authorities plan to gradually expand it to all of the country's provinces (wilayas). A second phase will involve the dematerialization of the conformity certificate, allowing users to download the official document online. Furthermore, the government intends to create a national registry of importers and establish new inspection centers to serve the areas with the highest demand.
