Sudan launched 28 new digital administrative services on its Baladna platform
The move aims to cut paperwork, speed up procedures, and lower user costs
Authorities also plan a national data center and expanded 4G coverage
Sudan has rolled out 28 new digital administrative services on its national Baladna platform, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Telecommunications said on February 1. The move is part of efforts to modernize access to public services for citizens and businesses through centralized and interconnected digital tools.
The initiative forms part of a broader drive to digitize Sudan’s public administration and reduce reliance on paper-based procedures, which are often slow and costly. By shifting services online, the government aims to simplify interactions with public institutions and improve service delivery.
By centralizing procedures on a single digital portal, authorities expect to shorten processing times, improve transparency, and reduce costs for users. Integrated digital services are also intended to limit human error and strengthen transaction traceability across government systems.
The rollout follows the announcement in December of the gradual activation of the Baladna platform, which serves as Sudan’s national public administration portal. The platform is designed to host most government services and facilitate data sharing between ministries, public agencies, and other state bodies.
Administrative modernization is also being supported by infrastructure projects. The minister announced plans to build a national data center in Port Sudan and to strengthen mobile networks through the construction of new 4G towers, in order to improve connectivity and ensure wider access to online public services.
