The Burkinabe government has decided to set up support centers in post offices nationwide to help citizens access online public services. The initiative aims to use the national network of La Poste Burkina Faso (La Poste BF) to promote digital and financial inclusion.

The move follows a Council of Ministers meeting on October 30, which approved a decree establishing a performance contract between the state and La Poste BF. Under the 2026–2030 plan, the two sides will jointly finance the construction and equipping of 20 “Zama Tchè” hubs, known as “Citizens’ Houses,” at an estimated total cost of 5.5 billion CFA francs (about $9.7 million).

The government said the project is part of efforts to accelerate the digitization of public services and make administration more accessible, transparent, and efficient. Expanding access to public services is among Burkina Faso’s 12 top digital priorities through 2030, with a focus on ensuring equitable access to digital tools even in rural areas.

Yet most citizens still lack the means to benefit. In 2023, 83% of Burkinabe did not use the internet, according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). To help bridge the gap, La Poste operates 129 branches across the country.
