• Madagascar to launch eForm for online travel forms, in partnership with tourism bodies and tech firm Mada Ozi.
• Platform to speed entry, boost security, and cut costs; expansion to all borders planned.
• Tourism drew 308,275 visitors in 2024, creating over 2,700 jobs.
Madagascar is set to launch eForm, a new platform that will digitize travel forms. The initiative is a public-private partnership between the Malagasy company Mada Ozi, the National Office of Tourism, and the Madagascar Tourism Confederation.
This collaboration will allow the state to deploy the technology without shouldering the entire cost, while leveraging the private sector's technical and logistical expertise. A technical consultation has already been held with tourism stakeholders to define the tool’s specifications.
The project follows a March partnership agreement between the Madagascar Tourism Confederation and Mada Ozi. Mada Ozi, which already manages electronic visas, aims to boost the national tourism industry by offering innovative digital solutions.
With eForm, travelers can complete their travel forms online before arriving in Madagascar. The information will be stored in a secure database that complies with International Civil Aviation Organization standards through the integration of the API-PNR system, which collects and processes air passenger data for security and border control.
The platform is expected to speed up airport entry procedures, improve the security and reliability of passenger data, and reduce administrative costs associated with paper forms. Over time, the reform could be expanded to all entry points, including ports and land borders, potentially paving the way for other digital projects to monitor tourist flows.
Tourism is a key economic sector for Madagascar. In 2024, the island nation welcomed 308,275 international visitors, with 254,137 arriving by air. According to data from the National Office of Tourism, the industry also created 2,778 jobs.
