Sudan prepares launch of Baldna platform to digitize public administration
System enables secure data exchange among ministries and state agencies
Part of broader plan including SudaPass digital ID to boost transparency
The Sudanese government is advancing its digital transformation with the gradual rollout of the Baldna platform, a system designed to modernize and secure transactions among public institutions.
The government reiterated this commitment last week in Port Sudan, where Prime Minister Kamil Idris chaired a coordination meeting focused on preparing the platform’s operational launch, according to an official statement.
Designed as a core digital infrastructure, Baldna aims to facilitate data exchange among ministries, public agencies and other government bodies, while improving the reliability and traceability of administrative processes. The initiative follows an announcement by the ICT ministry on the upcoming launch of SudaPass, a unified national digital identity platform described as a first step toward building a secure, nationwide electronic verification system.
The project forms part of a broader strategy to digitize Sudan’s public administration. Beyond government modernization, the rollout of Baldna is expected to improve service delivery for citizens and businesses, shorten processing times for public services and strengthen transparency in government operations.
