Nigeria launches mobile app to connect women with economic services
Platform targets 25 million women, President Tinubu says
App centralizes finance, training, and government support access
The Nigerian federal government announced last week the rollout of a mobile application aimed at connecting women with financial services, training programs, and public support schemes. Through this initiative, authorities are relying on a digital platform to streamline access to economic resources previously spread across multiple programs and institutions.
“We have set a bold but achievable target: to reach 25 million Nigerian women through this programme. […] Digital inclusion is no longer optional; it is essential to effective service delivery and national competitiveness,” President Bola Tinubu said.
The application will serve as a one-stop digital portal, allowing users to identify funding opportunities, access skills development programs, connect with markets, and stay informed about government initiatives.
The project is part of an expansion of national women’s empowerment programs and is intended to reach millions of beneficiaries nationwide. By adopting a digital interface, authorities aim to address limitations associated with traditional delivery channels, including geographic barriers, high administrative costs, and limited access to information in underserved areas.
