MTN Business Botswana, the enterprise division of the telecom operator, announced last week a partnership with Canadian tech firm Ethica. The collaboration launches MTN SDIA (Software Defined Intelligent Access), a smart connectivity solution that boosts the reliability and performance of managed services for businesses.
Powered by Ethica’s CloudAccess technology, MTN SDIA combines multiple internet links and automatically switches between them if one fails. Unlike traditional backup systems or complex SD-WAN setups, the solution maintains seamless connectivity, avoiding service interruptions even during network outages or slowdowns.
"This is about going beyond connectivity. Our entreprise customers want assurance that their opérations won't pause when an internet link does," said Oteng Mogomela, Head of Sales and Marketing at MTN Business Botswana. "CloudAccess gives us the ability to deliver on that expectation-consistently and at scale. It's a key step in our broader journey to power Botswana's digital economy with intelligent, secure infrastructure."
With digital transformation accelerating in Botswana, businesses are increasingly seeking stable, uninterrupted connectivity, especially for cloud applications, multi-site operations, and customer-facing platforms. MTN said companies using the new service will benefit from more consistent connections, better application performance, and stronger service reliability.
In Botswana, the South African operator primarily serves corporate clients, offering internet connectivity, Virtual Private Network (VPN), and other ICT solutions. MTN’s consumer business exited the market in 2019.
