Guinea’s Ministry of National Education announced on Wednesday, Feb. 25, the launch of a digital registration program for primary school students.
The initiative aims to create a comprehensive, reliable and secure digital registry of pupils beginning at the primary level. Each student will eventually receive a unique school identification number to ensure their academic progress can be tracked across the national education system.
As part of the rollout, examination officers and data managers from regional education inspectorates (IRE), prefectural education directorates (DPE), and communal education directorates (DCE) have begun intensive training. The sessions are coordinated by the Directorate-General for Examinations and Academic Oversight to ensure staff are fully proficient in using the platform, the ministry said.
The program forms part of a broader strategy to modernize education governance. By maintaining centralized and up-to-date school data, authorities aim to improve infrastructure planning, anticipate teacher staffing needs, and strengthen equity in resource allocation.
The registration platform could become a key driver of digital transformation in Guinea’s education sector by making data central to public decision-making. Its success will depend on effective field deployment and sustained commitment from local education authorities responsible for its daily operation.
