Napié resources rise 36% to 1.16 million ounces
Combined resources reach 4.2 million ounces across two projects
Company moves closer to developing future gold mines
Australian miner Aurum Resources has increased the estimated gold resources at its Napié project in Côte d’Ivoire by 36%, bringing the total to 1.16 million ounces, the company said on April 10.
The update comes just weeks after Aurum reported a sharp increase in resources at its Boundiali project, also located in Côte d’Ivoire. In February, the company said Boundiali’s resources had reached 3.03 million ounces, nearly doubling in one year.
At Napié, the latest estimate adds about 290,000 ounces, supported by drilling results from the Tchaga and Gogbala deposits. Together, Napié and Boundiali now account for a combined 4.2 million ounces of gold, strengthening Aurum’s position in the country.
“This updated resource estimate marks an important milestone for the Napié project and for Aurum as a whole,” said Chief Executive Officer Caigen Wang. “It also brings our total resources to 4.2 million ounces, a level we are proud to have reached.”
The progress supports the company’s goal of positioning its assets among the next generation of gold mines in Côte d’Ivoire. However, several steps remain before production can begin, including converting resources into mineable reserves, a key requirement for project development.
At Boundiali, a prefeasibility study is expected soon and should provide the first detailed technical and economic indicators for a potential large-scale mining operation.
Exploration is continuing at both sites. Aurum is currently carrying out a 30,000-meter drilling program at Napié and a 100,000-meter campaign at Boundiali.
To support its activities in Côte d’Ivoire, the company recently raised 28.8 million Australian dollars (about $20 million).
