China’s Himile Group plans to build a $100 million tire mold and industrial components factory in Egypt, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade said on Monday.
The project was discussed at a meeting between Investment Minister Mohamed Farid and Himile Group CEO Arian Kai, the ministry said in a statement.
Construction is due to begin before the end of the first half of 2026. The plant is expected to create between 1,000 and 2,000 jobs and reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional automotive hub.
The factory will cover 100,000 square meters and serve markets in the Middle East, Europe, North and South America, as well as the domestic market.
Farid said the government will support the project by helping secure land and speed up administrative procedures. He also stressed the importance of workforce training and technology transfer.
Founded in 1995, Himile Group produces tire molds, mechanical parts, compressors, chemical equipment and industrial anti-corrosion coatings. It has subsidiaries in eight countries: the United States, Thailand, India, Hungary, Brazil, Vietnam, Mexico and Cambodia, and employs more than 20,000 people.
The company has a 30% share of the global tire mold market and exports to more than 60 countries.
Several automotive suppliers and manufacturers have already set up operations in Egypt, including Japan’s Yazaki, China’s Sailun Group and automakers General Motors, Toyota and Stellantis. The government offers fiscal, financial and land incentives to build a local supply chain and position Egypt as a key automotive player in the Middle East and North Africa.
