• Solar Panda enters Senegal to supply off-grid households with solar power
• Over 350,000 homes in Kenya already equipped with its solar kits
• The kits offer lighting, charging, and TV access for rural communities
Canadian renewable energy firm Solar Panda has announced its entry into the Senegalese market, aiming to improve access to electricity for off-grid households. The company officially launched operations in Senegal on May 28, 2025, after years of activity in Kenya, where it has already equipped over 350,000 homes.
Solar Panda offers home solar kits that include lighting, and charging capabilities for phones, radios, and televisions powered by solar energy. The company plans to differentiate itself through product quality and customer service, and will recruit staff in sales, logistics, and customer support.
“With the quality of our products and our commitment to customer service, we believe that Solar Panda is perfectly suited to Senegalese families. This launch is a key step in our expansion across the continent,” said Andy Keith, founder and CEO of Solar Panda.
Off-grid solar systems (SHS) offer a practical solution for rural electrification in areas beyond the reach of national grids. These kits replace kerosene lamps, reduce indoor air pollution, and enable extended activities after dark. They also improve access to information through radio, TV, and phone charging.
Beyond improving rural living conditions, SHS contribute to emissions reductions by replacing fossil fuel-based energy sources. Solar Panda’s expansion into Senegal adds a tested model to the market, meeting persistent energy access needs with a decentralized, clean energy alternative.
