  • Four outsourcing firms have launched the Outsourcing Alliance of Kenya
  • The group aims to grow business services and create 100,000 jobs by 2026
  • The initiative aligns with government efforts to boost digital employment

Four leading providers of outsourced business services in Kenya have formed a new private coalition aimed at accelerating the growth of the country’s business services industry, a sector increasingly seen as a driver of job creation.

The group, called the Outsourcing Alliance of Kenya, was launched this week and brings together major operators in business process outsourcing and information technology services. The initiative was announced on Thursday by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy in a post on X, signaling official support for an industry the government considers strategic.

The formal launch was attended by government representatives. According to Kenyan Wall Street, founding members include CCI Kenya, CloudFactory Kenya, Teleperformance Kenya, and Sama Kenya. The alliance plans to expand to more than 20 members by the second quarter of 2026 and says it aims to help generate 100,000 jobs across the value chain.

In remarks read at the event, John Tanui, the principal secretary for information and communications technology and the digital economy, said the expansion of global business services could offer more inclusive opportunities for young people. He pointed to the state’s role in shaping targeted policies, appropriate regulatory frameworks, and measures to help local firms access international markets.

The government is backing the sector through training programs such as Ajira Digital and Jitume, which are designed to equip large numbers of young Kenyans with skills demanded by the global outsourcing industry, according to the digital economy ministry.

The initiative comes as Kenya’s unemployment rate stood at about 5.2% in 2025, with youth unemployment remaining a persistent challenge. Internet penetration reached 48% in the same year, a level that remains modest but has improved steadily and is seen as critical to the expansion of digital services and outsourcing.
