The Algerian government on January 7 held an information day focused on job opportunities offered by the Ministry of National Defense, targeting graduates of the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence and the National Higher School of Mathematics. The event took place at the Chahid Abdelhafid Ihaddaden Scientific and Technological Hub in Sidi Abdellah, Algiers, and aimed to present recruitment prospects within the various departments and services of the National People’s Army.
At the opening of the session, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, welcomed what he described as the strong interest shown by students from the national higher schools affiliated with the scientific and technological hub.
Discussions provided details on the profiles sought, recruitment procedures, and proposed assignments, as part of efforts to better align advanced scientific training with the state’s operational needs. According to an official statement, the partnership fits within “the development vision defined by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which gives priority to science, technology, and knowledge linked to the innovative economy.”
Colonel Belloula Ammar, representing the Minister of National Defense, said the initiative aims to strengthen support for young talent and to promote students’ scientific achievements. The move comes just months ahead of the graduation of the first cohorts from the artificial intelligence and mathematics schools, which authorities view as key drivers of the innovative economy.
The initiative also reflects a broader social challenge. In 2025, Algeria’s unemployment rate was estimated at 12.7%, with stronger pressure on young graduates, according to the National Statistics Office, as reported by local media.
