Yesterday, Algeria inaugurated its first Center of Excellence in Advanced Electronics at the Chergui Rabah National Specialized Vocational Training Institute in Rouïba, Algiers. The center is designed to deliver hands-on training focused on cutting-edge technologies, as part of a broader strategy to modernize vocational education.
Opened under the supervision of Vocational Training and Education Minister Nacima Arhab, the center aims to offer specialized programs tailored to the technical needs of the electronics sector. According to the ministry, the facility emphasizes high-quality training based on an applied approach, the adoption of modern technologies, and strong links to industrial realities. The goal is to improve trainees’ employability, strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship skills, and equip them with competencies aligned with the requirements of a modern economy and rapid technological change.
The initiative complements an existing network of centers of excellence covering strategic fields such as digital technologies and mechanics. It reflects the government’s strategy to modernize vocational training, introduce innovative specializations, adapt curricula to real labor market needs, and support high value-added industries, particularly advanced electronics.
The launch comes amid broader reforms aimed at better aligning vocational training with economic needs and upgrading teaching methods. In June 2025, the government announced the introduction of 40 new digital specializations starting in the next academic year. A few months later, at the October 2025 intake, 385,000 new trainees were enrolled, bringing the total number of learners nationwide to more than 670,000, underlining the strategic role of vocational training in workforce integration.
