Côte d’Ivoire Launches 2025 Scholarships to Strengthen Mining Sector Skills

To stimulate the growth of its burgeoning mining sector, Côte d’Ivoire is investing in local skills development. This goal has, in recent years, been supported through the distribution of training scholarships to professionals and industry stakeholders.

The Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy has launched its first scholarship campaign for 2025. According to the announcement, the scheme targets “agents of the Mining Administration, mining engineers, and Ivorian geologists, working in the mining administration and within mining companies affiliated with the Professional Group of Miners of Côte d’Ivoire (GPMCI).”

The scholarships grant access to “qualifying or degree-granting courses delivered on Ivorian territory.” Covered fields include geosciences, engineering, environment, law, economics, and mining management.

This initiative forms part of a broader government program to improve the capabilities of local mining sector actors. In addition to professionals, it targets students in relevant disciplines such as geology and earth sciences.

Applications opened on Monday, May 19, and will remain open until Monday, June 30. Interested and eligible candidates must apply online via a dedicated portal on the Ministry of Mines’ website.
