• 93% of Ivorian households own a television set
• TV and digital media dominate with 3+ hours daily use
• Peak TV audience hits 2M viewers at 8 p.m.
Television is the most-watched medium in Côte d'Ivoire, according to new audience data from a partnership between the country's High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) and the British research firm Kantar TNS. HACA tasked Kantar with measuring media consumption in Côte d'Ivoire, and the company presented its first findings on Tuesday, August 19.
The data, collected in two survey waves from May 6 to 30 and June 17 to July 8, 2025, shows that 93% of Ivorian households own a television. This compares to 68% of households with a radio and 92% with access to digital media.
A note from the study, reported by the Ivorian media outlet abidjan.net, stated that "television and digital media dominate, with more than three hours of daily listening/viewing each." The peak television audience is recorded at 8 p.m., reaching approximately 36% of the population, or more than 2 million viewers in June. The report adds that consumption is primarily done at home.
While television's strong position in Côte d'Ivoire's media landscape is no surprise, observers are finding the initial audience measurement results to be somewhat lacking in detail. At the project's outset, many had expected more specific figures on market share for individual media outlets.
