The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) announced on August 4, 2025, the appointment of Carol Koech (Photo) as Vice President for Africa, effective August 1. Her mission is to drive the implementation of Mission 300, a continent-wide initiative aiming to connect 300 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa to electricity by 2030.

With over 20 years of experience in energy access and sustainable development, Koech previously served as Strategy Director for Sustainability at Schneider Electric and held leadership roles at General Electric and Unilever. She is expected to expand GEAPP’s footprint in Africa and strengthen its blended finance efforts to scale clean energy access.

Launched with support from the World Bank, the African Development Bank, and philanthropic partners including the Rockefeller Foundation, Mission 300 aims to support a just energy transition and inclusive green growth across the continent, where over 600 million people still lack electricity.
